Best tanning lotion for very fair skin to use outside?
I have extremely pale skin, and I really want to get a tan this summer so I can wear shorts. I do not want to use a tanning bed, however, so I plan to tan outside. I was wondering what the best (and most affordable) tanning lotion is?
Also, I do not want to use a gradual tanner–I have tried those, and they only make my skin look orange because I’m so fair.
Thank you in advance! I appreciate it.

I also have very fair skin (I’m Irish). Most of the time, us fair skinned people need to realize we aren’t going to get super dark like most people do. But it also doesn’t mean that we can’t get tan. It takes time, but what I do is use a low SPF tanning lotion or oil (I prefer Banana Boat SPF 8 dry oil in the spray can) and then I put this stuff called Maui Babe over top of it. Let me tell you, this stuff has done WONDERS for me. I’m not super dark because it’s impossible for me to get that way no matter what I use, but I do have a beautiful golden brown tan. I suggest laying out for 30 minutes a day for the first week and increase 10 minutes a week (or to the point where you don’t burn), and I wouldn’t lay out for over 2 or 3 hours when you get up to that level.
You can buy Maui Babe anywhere, but I buy it from Ulta. It does run fairly expensive (around $15), but I promise it’s worth it!
If you’re very pale tanning lotion will just make you burn, not tan.
