Thinking of tanning in a tanning bed and I’ve been informed that there’s no point unless you purchase and use tanning lotion. They seem so expensive though, so I need help deciding which to buy before I splurge. Are the lotions really better than the Hawaiian Tropic at Walmart? Please help!

I’m pretty fair-skinned and I’ve been tanning without using any tanning lotions or anything like that but it doesn’t seem to be getting very far. I’d like to try something like Hawaiian Tropic tanning lotion but I’m wondering how effective products like that really are, and also if it will leave streak marks or make my skin orange.
The stuff I’m referring to is the low-SPF lotion you mentioned, Kat.

Is it okay for me to put sunscreen on first and let it dry. Then apply the tanning lotion (Hawaiian Tropic Tanning) on after? Will this keep me from tanning at all?
I wanna use sunscreen with it because ill be on the beach for a number of hours each day

The only thing I’ve read is that it may contain oils and stuff that may damage the acrylic pexiglass in the beds. I use a stand-up booth for tanning so my body doesn’t touch anything anyway. Is it okay to use my Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Lotion SPF4?

I know a lot of people are probably gonna try to tell me that tanning is bad yes, I’m aware of that and i never tan but this summer i want to get some color. I was looking at Banana Boat, Hawaiian Tropic, and Coppertone products but i don’t know which is best to use. What do you recommend? Oh and how long should i lay out for? Thanks Again!!

If I tan in a tanning bed and I recently bought Hawaiian tropic dark tanning lotion with sunscreen protectant #4. I couldn’t find any indoor tanning lotions…..anyways will this still work as good? What is the difference between indoor and outdoor tanning lotions lotions anyways? Thanks!!!

alright, so my friend thinks that tanning lotion and oils (such as Hawaiian Tropic) with an SPF of 4-6 actually attracts sunlight to your skin and moisturizes it in a way and makes it darker than tanning without lotion. I think, however, that calling it "tanning" lotion is just a way to market low SPF sunblock and does not actually make you darker. Who is right?
